I strongly support the full repeal of Obamacare. According to the Heritage Foundation, the U.S. spends roughly $2.6 trillion on healthcare. Under President Obama’s health care policy, the government will control over half of all health care spending by 2019. Our health care system needs major reform, not more government control. We must move away from a big government, bureaucracy-driven system to a more patient-based system centered on consumer choice and free market competition.

Everyone says our tax system needs a major overhaul. It’s now time for someone to actually do it. The U.S. has the highest corporate income tax rate in the industrialize world. We must cut this rate in order to incentivize international businesses to invest in the America we all know and love. as well as incentivize American businesses to expand jobs here instead of shipping jobs overseas. We must also eliminate the capital gains tax, the death tax and lower the income tax rate in order to broaden the base and create jobs for hardworking, American taxpayers. Additionally, the Bush tax cuts should be made permanent. There is a level of uncertainty that exist among investors, small business owners, and families that taxes will increase at the end of 2012, when these cuts are set to expire. Unless Congress acts quickly, uncertainty will continue to grow and the economy will continue to lag.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, our national deficit equaled 9.8 percent of GDP at the end of 2011. In order to restrain the growth of spending, Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment and force the government to spend only what it takes in. This is the how my family manages our checkbook, and the federal government should be forced to do the same. We must work to cap spending so that we do not repeat the same habits that created steps that got us into our current problem. Congress has to work to cut spending in a way that will reduce the deficit.

Taxpayers today are estimated to pay $120,000 on average per student from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Hardworking taxpayers should have more say in how that money is spent to best educate their children. There is no “one size fits all” solution for education, and Washington should not be in the business of trying to create one. No Child Left Behind has made it harder to educate students because it removed local control from communities. I believe that the decision making ability should be returned to the states to encourage localized reform. Giving parents the ability to choose safe and effective schools will encourage innovation and bring accountability to failing systems.

During his time in office, President Obama has created a multitude of unnecessary regulations that have stifled our economy and eliminated American jobs. Congress should have the ability to review, correct and vote down any proposed and existing rules as part of their oversight responsibilities. I believe Congress should have to approve any new major rule before it takes affect. That would help address the problem of cumbersome regulations that hurt job creation and hinder competition in our economy.

Immigration is a federal issue and needs a federal solution. We must secure the border by enforcing the laws that are already on the books in order to solve our illegal immigration problem while not allowing amnesty for those already here.

On the flip side, we should do this while also working to attract the best and brightest minds in the world to learn and work in the United States. As a member of Congress, I would support Rep. Jeff Flake’s (AZ-R) STAMP Act, which would give a green card to any legal foreign student who graduates college with an engineering, math or science degree. This legislation will provide an incentive to keep jobs at home instead of sending them to our competitors overseas.

For 10 years I’ve served in the United States Air Force Reserves, and during that time completed a tour of duty in Iraq. I have firsthand knowledge of the issues and problems our soldiers face while both serving in a war zone and returning home because I’ve been there. America has the greatest military in the world, and I will fight every day to make sure that legacy continues and our freedoms are protected. That includes providing the necessary funding to get the job done while consistently protecting our troops. We must ensure America never bows down to her enemies.

America needs an all-encompassing energy policy that will enable us to no longer depend on our enemies for energy sources foreign dictators for our energy resources. Because of this, I strongly support domestic on and offshore drilling. If elected, I will put my full backing behind projects like the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would increase our domestic production and help decrease out of control gas prices.

Agriculture is the number one industry in the 9th district, and plays a vital part in our everyday lives. We must promote our resources, advocate for growth in America and never forget farming has been entwined in our country’s history and culture since its founding. As I member of Congress, I will provide a voice for agribusiness and agritourism for our area to make sure they are not constrained by big government or erroneous regulations in Washington.

I believe our Founding Fathers got it right the first time. The constitutional right to bear arms is essential to our country’s core principles. I have and will continue to oppose any federal legislation that inhibits or attacks this freedom.
