Agriculture is not only the number one industry in the Ninth District, but it is the number one industry in Georgia. Throughout my time serving the constituents of the Ninth District I have focused on the key issues facing the industry:

  • Protecting the water rights of land owners in the “water wars” with Alabama and Florida
  • Fighting against the egregious “Waters of the US” Rule trying to be imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency
  • Promoting agriculture education throughout the district and state to ensure we continue to educate future generations of the importance of agriculture
  • Working to secure research initiatives to advance the industry, particularly poultry research, to ensure we are more food secure than we have ever been before

I believe the best way to work to solve any problem is to be on the ground talking to those who are dealing with these problems. I try and spend as much time as I can to meet with farmers and their employees all over the district to ensure our diverse agriculture industry can thrive. Agriculture affects the daily lives of every one of us. Whether it is the sheer size of our poultry industry or the emerging agritourism industry, I will always fight for the rights of our farmers and the jobs they bring to the district.
