Federal Spending

The federal government doesn’t have a revenue problem – it has a spending addiction that must be broken. I cosponsored the Balanced Budget Amendment because I believe the federal government should not spend more than what it takes in every year. Like most Americans, my family has to manage our checkbook this way, and there’s no reason Congress can’t do the same.

Consistent with my promise to Georgians, I have opposed and voted against all legislation that would increase our nation’s debt ceiling. Instead of creating a larger fiscal mess for our children and grandchildren, Congress needs to embrace fiscal discipline. We must cut spending, eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, and cap spending so future Congresses will not repeat the mistakes that led to our current crisis.
